Turn Of The Century Calvary Uniform

Recommended Posts

Hopefully one of you is a history buff or Reenactor. I am looking for any and all the information I can find on the uniform worn by Calvary officers at the turn of the century just prior to WWI. I am more particularly interested in the gun leather and sidearms that and officer would have carried at this point in time. Patterns, pictures, links etc. would all be helpful.

Thanks

One Randy Steffan's books, 'The Horse Soldier' (I think they are called) series, should cover most of what you want. This is a link to Amazon UK but it gives the details.

Go to:

ushist.com

quartermasterdepot.com

ccsutlery.com

quartermastershop.com

sutlers.co.uk

ushist.com is the best I think, but you can google "us cavalry uniforms (insert year)" and you will also find pictures. I've done a lot of research on cav leather for myself and other reenactors.

...and the word is "Cavalry"...not "calvary".

May not seem like a big difference, but it is (completely different meanings) and those doing a search that spell it correctly will never see this thread with it spelled wrong.

Lots of books around for that period in time, but you better check books on spanish american war.
