Members spurdude101 Posted November 24, 2012 Members Report Posted November 24, 2012 I've read a lot on hear about relining skirts, but not much is mentioned on what type and what size of thread works best. i plan on hand sewing using the old holes. any ideas? Quote
Members TroyWest Posted November 24, 2012 Members Report Posted November 24, 2012 Most saddlemakers use 277 on top, 207 on bottom in their machines. You would use the same to reline. If you're hand sewing, just use 277. Quote
Members BondoBobCustomSaddles Posted November 25, 2012 Members Report Posted November 25, 2012 Like Troy said, that is pretty much the norm. Be sure if you are stitching by hand with waxed thread, to burnish the thread with a piece of paper (I use a piece of shopping bag) to get the excess wax off, or you will be fighting the fibers of wool locking up your thread as it is plled through the piece. It is a bit tricky, but; you get the hang of it afer a while. Bob Quote
Members spurdude101 Posted December 1, 2012 Author Members Report Posted December 1, 2012 after reading some, I see this is a waxed linen thread. Can I use a bonded nylon thread? does the size of the thread change with the type of thread? for instance, does a bonded nylon come in 277? Quote
mlapaglia Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 yes it does, 207, 277, 346 and more Quote
