Loops For Iwb Carry- Static Or Snaps

So, the question is; "Do you use snap loops or static loops that you thread the belt through on your IWB loops." I like the idea of snaps but I'm having snap issues. They may also be related to loop length as well and that's my next change.

Line 24's are not the strongest but they have held up fine in other applications for me. Pull the dot's are more expensive and I'm having different issues there with even getting them to work. Static takes the cake for ease of making them but they would be more difficult to put on I would think.

FWIW, I would be using them on hybrids and fairly widely spaced on leather holsters so the rear loop tends to be in the back pocket area already if you carry just behind the hip. Just wondering what everyone else is doing. Gonna do some more research and trial and error ( more error currently), but figured I would ask here too.

Snaps and t nuts would be my preference. The loops can be changed easily for wider belts and different colors. T nuts would enable the user to adjust the cant to their liking. I like Lift The Spot snaps from YKK, got them direct for about $65 per 100 for all 4 parts. My opinion on parts is if you care enough to make something and put your name on it use quality components, the snaps aren't really that much more. My loops are 5 7/8" long, the holes approximately 4 1/2" oc apart. The back or fixed hole is 1/2" in from end and the front is 7/8" from end. These work good on 1 1/2" belt. Thanks Jeremy. I had gone shorter, and had issues. I cut a couple longer, at 6 1/4". I might back down to 6" and try them too. I've not had a lot of time to dedicate to this process, so it's in fits and spurts between other things. I have some pull the dots but cannot figure the darn things out. Part of it is that I ordered the insides because I wanted a black snap on the outside and IIRC Springfield only carried silver. They were supposed to work with the line 24 outsides but they don't. At least not trying to build an entire snap. If I use t nuts and screws it looks like it would work but I can't get the snap to function when I mount it. More tinkering is in order I guess.

I have some loops in the garage drying, and I skivved them down a bit. I'll test them tomorrow. I'll keep tinkering with the line 24's on my demos (I've got plenty to tinker with) and look more at the pull the dots.

With the 8-32 screws the head needs to be undercut or it will impede the function of the snap. I copied everything about the loops from a Bianchi holster my buddy has. Why reinvent the wheel, right? I forget how thick the leather is, mostly I use horsehide, that's 5-7 oz I believe, and I ordered 4-5 oz cowhide strip for those loops.

One more thing, I use stainless steel, the undercut machine screws from McMaster Carr and the t nuts from steel marine fastener.

Thanks for all the info Jeremy. That's pretty similar to my setup that I was using. I had my length to short for the loop. I test drove the 6 1/4" loop with line 24 snaps and had none of the issues I had with the shorter ones. Much better. I have not gotten around to making up pull the dot ones yet.

I'm wearing a thick gun belt, and a lot of the guys I might be making these for are too. So I may stay a little long on the loops. 1.5" and right at .25" wide, give or take depending on where it was cut. I traded the maker 2 holsters for 2 belts. I don't think I'll have to replace it. Ever.
