benlilly1 Report post Posted December 26, 2012 Trying to come up with a good fitting bra for a battery. Here is the start. I used lightweight milled veg-tan leather and 1/8" lace to practice with. I have a couple other ideas but need to refine them.
Sanch Report post Posted December 26, 2012 Is this going to be a "tiedown " IMHO less is more ..plus what is placement of battery on bike? Road salts and the such will eat that hide ...a loose battery at speed could be less than happy ...
benlilly1 Report post Posted December 26, 2012 Stealfdawg, For sure figuring out all the pros and cons is going to be interesting. I was wanting to make just a cap instead of going all the way around it but making sure a cap stays in place while riding didn't sound smart. I do know that the elements are going to be hard on the leather so maybe only show bikes will be interested in this type of accessory. Just playing around trying to come up with some other acessories. Thanks for your opinion!
Sanch Report post Posted December 27, 2012 please dont take my observations as a negative crit! no such animal as any critique can open eyes and as far as just for show well to me thats... well just for show LOL make it out of heavy oiled black leather lace it up with some red roo in a mex round braid use brass hard ware and call it done!! maybe some diamond shaped holes or spade shaped holes? or black on black tooled up biker style make it serve a purpose though not just for show! even a "bra" serves a purpose! electrathon Report post Posted December 27, 2012 I don't have any real critiques over what you have posted. Only to say I was pretty disapointed with the pictures you had posted compared with what I had for a vision in my brain after reading the heading... benlilly1 Report post Posted December 27, 2012 Ha, I agree with you Stealfdawg. I like your idea of the shaped holes. I hadn't thought of that. The prototype was to match a seat I had done in the past. Otherwise it would be wise to step it up and make it a showy piece. So do most tie down their battery? I've seen straps before but didn't know how they were attached. Sorry to disappoint you Aaron! I don't have any real critiques over what you have posted. Only to say I was pretty disapointed with the pictures you had posted compared with what I had for a vision in my brain after reading the heading... Oops, I posted wrong...Sorry to disappoint you Aaron!

electrathon Report post Posted December 27, 2012 Sorry to disappoint you Aaron! Well, I will live through this. But you have to realize when one of the cutest females on the forum posts she is designing a bra (and it will be out of leather) sometimes your brian extrapolates on what is there. )
benlilly1 Report post Posted December 27, 2012 I'll be more careful with my description from now on Aaron.
chancey77 Report post Posted January 12, 2013 I think it looks great! Having the bike there would help 110%. That way you can figure out the tie down or if there is room for just a simple strap with a buckle..... Guys the battery is connected to a heavy cable that is normaly made to be just long enough to connect without any real slack at all... So that helps hold it in the box plate... So honestly I don't see the problems you are talking about! Looks GREAT!! I have made several similar and road salt????? What??? Man it is just leather don't worry about that!!!
