Top Coating Acrylic Paint

I have a black and yellow piece I'm trying to Finish.yellow is acrylic paint, black is oil dye.I painting on a Finnish to keep the yellow from turning black.didn't work, still turns black.what can I use that won't bleed? The paint alone won't hold up I don't think

It seams to me that every time I hear about the Fiebings black dye I hear about the excessive bleeding...Maybe it's time to try another brand?

I have used Angelus black spirit dye for some years now and never had any problems with bleeding over to other colors when putting a topcoat on, and I use loads of colors around it :-)

The acrylic pain is very durable, top coat not really needed. I have some wallets and purses out there that I used acrylic paint on that have held up really well. I feel your pain, that black bleeding over is a bummer, you can try sealing it before you use the acrylic paint.

I'm confused by all the problems people have with it. Yeah, the black sucks into the leather pretty quick, but I've never had a problem as long as I brush the excess off on a piece of paper before touching it to leather. I've brushed it into to some high-detail spots with no issues. Dry brushing is our friend . There are times where I'm more guilty of not having enough dye on my brush.

Having no experience with the coverage of acrylics, I would test to see if the acrylic yellow would cover the black dye. If so, then it should be able to touch up the spots that got black on them.

It wasn't just a speck or two, the top coat made the whole piece a murky color,I even painted just the yellow area with top coat and the black still pulled through...? I let it dry, re painted the yellow paint on, and left it
