Black Chicago Screws

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a lead on some nice black Chicago screws. I have the Nickel ones from Weaver Leather and that is the quality I am looking for. To bad they do not offer black in that quality of screw.

I have ordered from 2 different places (http://www.mcmaster....-screws/=lg4uni and http://www.chicagosc...g=us&category=3) and and was not at all impressed with the quality at all. Shallow screw slot depth and if you over tighten it really messes up the finish and strips the slot heads. After spending $40.00 total at both places I am left with junk.

Triage, check your PM, . . .

I get mine from Tandy's and am about 95% happy with them. The 5% unhappy, is they don't come short enough for just a few things I do, . . . wind up having to put a spacer somewhere, . . . one size shorter than their shortest would be a great help.

May God bless,

Dwight

Tandy has them as short as 1/8". They have an open back so they can probably go even tighter than that.

I have been using the Tandy in 1/8" and 1/4" they work well. The only things I don't like are the dome head screws would rather have flat. And that they cost more. Other than that they have a good finish and I've never had one strip out.

Thank you Dwight for sending me some 1/4" in black from Tandy. Those are really nice. I am going to order some but I also need the 3/8" Chicago screw and nobody seems to carry them in black. Anyone?

Try some of the knife making websites they use them for kydex sheaths. Maybe they have what you are looking for.

Watch what you buy the aluminum ones as they are junk..Years ago while looking I thought that these would work..They strip out very easily..Good luck.
