spurspup Report post Posted April 1, 2013 I have a 31-15 treadle that I'm restoring and a bunch of industrial needles that have been hanging around forever. I need to know what size needle to keep for the 31-15 and then I'm going to "re-home" the remainder of the needles as I only have the 31-15. No sense letting the rest of the needles sit. If someone can give me a hand I'd appreciate it. Most of the needles are Singer brand but many various sizes. An example is: 46X2 10 Twist; 16X97 11; 46X1 8; 16X87 22 Could go on forever but you get the idea. Have NO idea what these needles would fit but there's someone out there that can use them. I just need to keep those that will fit the 31-15. Thanks for any help or insite!!!
CowboyBob Report post Posted April 1, 2013 The 16x87 is the correct needle and or any other needle you have that is that length.
Wizcrafts Report post Posted April 1, 2013 Make sure that not only the length is correct, but also that the needle enters the hole dead center. If you install a needle whose shaft is too wide the needle will not be centered in the hole in the throat plate and timing will be affected.
