Members WashingtonCross Posted April 1, 2013 Author Members Report Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) Update: the top thread is getting jammed in the shuttle race body. Its failing to go around the bobbin barrel as you can see in these pics. What a mess. It also seems that the spacing between the shuttle hook and the race body is preventing the top thread from going around the bobbin barrel, therefore pulling the thread from my right hand as I hold it before securing the first few stitches. Don't know how to fix this. Edited April 1, 2013 by WashingtonCross Quote
dirtclod Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 I don't know if has anything to do with your problem or not. But where you have the thread run through the side wire loop twice i come down the back make one a half loops on the disk and come out the wire guide once. Been doing it that way for 20 years and it works fine. Like i said it may have nothing to do with your problem but it's easy to check. Quote I'm old enough to know that i don't know everything.
Members LeatherWerks Posted April 2, 2013 Members Report Posted April 2, 2013 I can't tell for sure but in the pictures I'd check the threading first. Here's a video that explains the threading process in detail. Again if all else fails, call Steve. Steve Nelson Quote
Members WashingtonCross Posted April 2, 2013 Author Members Report Posted April 2, 2013 Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I'm waiting for Steve's call. Quote
Members WashingtonCross Posted April 5, 2013 Author Members Report Posted April 5, 2013 Well...I had to take a break from the machine as I was losing patience after two days of trying to get her to work. Back at it today. Hopefully I can figure it out by today's end. Here is a video on what's happening: I know its something simple. Will call Steve a little later. Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted April 5, 2013 Moderator Report Posted April 5, 2013 Either the thread is not going through the take-up lever, or the shuttle timing has become retarded. If the latter, there is an adjuster accessible through a covered port on the lower front of the machine body. Don't attempt to adjust this without guidance. Members WashingtonCross Posted April 5, 2013 Author Members Report Posted April 5, 2013 With Steve's guidance, I adjusted the hook timing. The hook should be approx. 1/8 inch above the eye of the needle. Going to make sure the setting is correct again today. And the thread is going through the take up lever. Sigh.... Quote
Members J Hayes Posted April 7, 2013 Members Report Posted April 7, 2013 Were you able to get it stitching yet? Quote

Members J Hayes Posted April 7, 2013 Members Report Posted April 7, 2013 Great to hear. I am curious what the problem ended up being though, just in case I or someone else runs into the same thing Quote
