Members DoubleC Posted May 14, 2013 Members Report Posted May 14, 2013 Carson, this is great. I am so impressed, gave me more ideas for mine. I don't have it on leather yet so will use some of your ideas for mine. Great job. Cheryl http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoubleCCowgirl
Members RaeNae Posted May 15, 2013 Author Members Report Posted May 15, 2013 Oh my gosh! Carson - It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for joining the challenge, you did a fantastic job! C - I love the sketch, it looks like you've gotten all the correct lines done for shading and cutting. I can't wait to see you transfer it to leather! As for everyone else, I'm sorry I've been sorta MIA. My personal life decided to kick me in the pants so I've been dealin' with that. I'll have my sketches done by the weekend. Thanks everyone! - Rae.
Members DoubleC Posted May 15, 2013 Members Report Posted May 15, 2013 Thanks Rae, I've decided to do the piece as wall art for myself. Will start very soon. C http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoubleCCowgirl
Members DoubleC Posted May 25, 2013 Members Report Posted May 25, 2013 I decided to let my sketch do double duty for here and slc's lousy leather contest. I skived the furry back, wash it with saddle soap to get all the oiliness off and incorporated a slice into a simple border on the top and bottom. Going to hang this one on my wall http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoubleCCowgirl

Never seen something done like that. Is it all cut with a swivel knife? (How did you transfer the pattern?) Any beveling or stamping?
Members DoubleC Posted May 26, 2013 Members Report Posted May 26, 2013 Yes, everything is cut with the swivel knife except for the rib area and the shoulder blade and the backbone contour. I reduced my drawing to 8 & 1/2 x 11 and printed it out, put it in a clear plastic folder and did the lines with my stylus. Then I just used a modeling spoon to bevel all the parts because the hands, etc. were so small and I'm not good at beveling. So I used a stylus, swivel knife and spoon Even the hair is swivel knifed, LOL. Thank you Carson. http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoubleCCowgirl
