Members shtoink Posted May 4, 2013 Members Report Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) howdy no mouthpiece hackamore more n likely. The part with the "U" shape and rollers along the left is the mouth piece, the angle makes it difficult to see, though. Multiple pictures at different angles would have help in that regard. It's pretty hard to do decent searching while on my phone, but I did find a guide for bit and spur types here. Edited May 4, 2013 by shtoink Quote
Members LBennett Posted May 6, 2013 Members Report Posted May 6, 2013 Looks like what we call a correction bit based on what i can see of the shape of the port( no matter what it is called a curb bit due to the shanks on either side of the mouthpiece, and this one as another poster said is a ported mouthpiece, they can have jointed ones. ) Any marker's Marks on it? the rings at the bottom of the shanks tell me that it was likely meant to be used with romel reins and rein chains. Members Matchlock Posted July 14, 2013 Members Report Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) Hi; I believe that bit is called a King's Dressage and is used together with a snaffle. Not 100% sure but it looks like one. Bud Hi, A friend of mine collect horse bits and she recently got this one given to her.
