Members Cmoore Posted May 8, 2013 Members Report Posted May 8, 2013 I need to make this bag out of tooling leather: https://www.etsy.com/listing/124414532/oil-tanned-distressed-metallic-leather?ref=shop_home_feat I wasn't sure if I should buy a 2-3oz or 3-4 oz. Im using a sewing machine not sewing by hand. Also can I moisten the leather a little to make it more pliable before I sew it? I haven't worked with tooling leather before. I would definitely appreciate all opinions! Thanks!! Quote
mlapaglia Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I would use 4/5 Herman Oak. Yes you can moisten the leather before you sew it. Quote
Northmount Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 And the machine presser foot and feeddogs will leave more marks on your leather ... just like we case leather for tooling. Tom Quote
mlapaglia Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I normally machine sew with the leather dry but you can sew it slightly damp. My Boss does not leave pressure foot marks on cases leather as long as I adjust the pressure foot correctly. Quote
