leatherj Report post Posted May 19, 2013 Hello guys Does anyone know of any British made hardware suppliers? Buckles and Chicago screws are mainly what I'm looking for
gary Report post Posted May 19, 2013 Try http://abbeyengland.com/Default.aspx and http://www.leprevo.co.uk/. One of them, can't remember which, bought Britannia Buckle Company a little while ago. Abbey do mostly made in UK stuff.
leatherj Report post Posted May 20, 2013 Cheers I tried Le Prevo (Britannia's new owner) a while back and just got 'No' in reply I've dropped Abbey an email regarding their prices
gary Report post Posted May 20, 2013 You have to register with Abbey to see their prices. They've always been helpful and never seem to mind dealing with a small business. I've not tried http://www.hostilehides.co.uk/hardware.html but found them recently. They don't look as they stock much stuff yet but may be worth a call. celticleather Report post Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) J T Batchelor (http://jtbatchelor.co.uk/) in Islington have a vast range of cast brass buckles, all made by a foundry in Walsall, and at a much cheaper price than Le Prevo or Abbey. If you are close to London, a visit to their shop/warehouse would be an eye-opener! I have attached their buckle catalogue, and also their tools catalogue, and although I know that a lot of their tools are sourced from J Dixon in Walsall, I cannot say that all of their tools are British-made. Speak to Ted or Rocky, who will soon put you on the right track! I should add that the last two figures in the buckle numbers (eg 25, 30, 32 etc) are the strap widths in millimetres. buckles.pdf Tools.pdf Edited May 22, 2013 by celticleather
