  1. Do you know what leathers the grey and light saddle are? http://horween.com/leathers/full-tannage-list/ Any chance of shipping to the UK?
  2. Looking for 1.25" x at least 46" of burgundy Chromexcel shipped to the UK if anyone could help Anything from 8 to 12oz
  3. I've had these brass screws on an untreated, natural, oak tanned belt for about 3 months and when I unscrewed them today for the first time, noticed this green waxy substance on the back Any ideas on this?
  4. I've only managed to quickly speak to them today, admittedly the lady did say Andrew was best equipped to answer my questions, but the 'Oak Bark Full Grain Bridle Butt's' only come in 2 colours? I am due a call back from Andrew, unfortunately I didn't get one today, but I was hoping to be able to order from the majority, if not all, of colours listed on their site. Assuming the Oak Bark Full Grain Bridle Butt's are what I want?
  5. Opps Equestrian Leather Price List 2013.pdf
  6. I will be making some belts soon and just wanted to check which leather I should be buying from J & FJ Their price list, attached, is quite long They also told me: our bridle butts are 60" long by 24" wide, and our backs are about 80" by 24". Any opinions will be appreciated
  7. Cheers I tried Le Prevo (Britannia's new owner) a while back and just got 'No' in reply I've dropped Abbey an email regarding their prices
  8. Hello guys Does anyone know of any British made hardware suppliers? Buckles and Chicago screws are mainly what I'm looking for
  9. I've done the glueing and the passport fits in okay. It wants to pull the the case open. I've not creased or grooved the center fold yet, is that likely to work? Am I better just putting a book over it for a few days?
  10. You could try using two pieces of floorboards, or Something similarly flat and long. Push each one under your wheels and try and rub any mud off. If you start moving, don't stop!
  11. Thanks, make sense I've got all my cutting done, with some leather left over for practising. I'm not sure which bit to do next. I'm never going to be able to cut the flaps to match exactly when folded over, so I'm thinking I should glue, sand and then do the stitch crease or grove. Make sense?
  12. Quick question, do I want to be cutting on the grain (outer) or the inner side of the leather?
  13. Are sprays not that good? I'm thinking they would be much less messy
  14. They look great Did you use a free pattern? I'm looking to make a similar one to the first one but with no coin pocket.
  15. Thanks Red I'd ruled out adesive as I guessed it would be to messy, but I didn't realise you could break it up. Maybe I'll cut it rough to size Mask off the size of the passport plus 1mm Spray off adhesive Take off mask Pull leather over passport Let Dry Trim/Sand to 7/8mm Sew How does that sound?
  16. I've got my leather, a piece of 1mm Kangaroo as below I think it might be best to cut it into two 145mm high strips, giving me 10mm to sew along. I'm not sure on the best way to do the weight would be. If I use the exact measurements of the passport plus flaps, it will be too tight once sew together but I don't to add, say, 5/10mm and it be too big. I could fold them around the passport as tight as I can, and clamp them in place but I can see that getting messy an wont be very even. Thanks for the info on the tools, I'll get those ordered.
  17. Hello I see kangaroo mentioned a lot around here for making lace but I can't see any info about using it for wallets, belts, ect. How does natural roo hide age? Will it eventually go a dark brown like cow? Do it need any special treatment or just beeswax, mink oil, ect? I'm looking at The Identity Store's light and heavy weight leather as it comes in 1sqft pieces http://www.theidentitystore.co.uk/products.asp?SubCatID=81 Comments much welcomed
  18. Sorry to bump my own thread but does anyone have any comments on my pattern? The girlfriend and I are going away this year for the first time and I want to make some special
  19. I've emailed Tandy and asked for a price for 7ft by 2ft and I'll what they say. Thanks guys
  20. http://www.tandyleather.eu/en-gbp/store/9052-01.aspx Thanks guys, how does the above look? It's 15sqft, which is 2160sqin I could make 800 3/4" belts or am I totally wrong?
  21. Would 6oz leather be okay to make a wallet and okay to bevel and grove?
