Anybody recognize this old Singer?

Recommended Posts

Found this for sale and am waiting for the fellow who is selling it to get back to me if he can find a model number. He says it is probably from the 50's and has sewn up to 1" thick harness leather. Any idea what its worth? I am looking primarily to sew holsters and knife sheaths. Maybe occasionally some heavy webbing. Thank you for any thoughts folks have. akraven

There should be a model number stamped in brass on the front of the base of the machine, Thiis would identify the type of machine it is and its capabilities. Just by looking at the picture I might guess that it is along arm walking foot machine.Art on this forum might know.

Hi Raven,

They made some long arm versions of the 61, but I would need more detailed pics to tell. Also the plate under the Singer Gold Seal will have the number on it.

That is a Singer 144w 20" arm length w/3/4" foot lift, made for canvas, tents not the best for sewing heavy leather, would make a great chap machine though.

It's probably worth $5-800 depending on condition.
