Members flyingcuda Posted August 6, 2013 Members Report Posted August 6, 2013 a friend has asked me to re do his seat in leather, no tooling, just black leather. i have not done one yet. just wondering what leather would be best to use. any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. oh, and what do you recommend for finishing it with to prevent the elements in harming it. thanks for taking the time to read. i will try to attach a photo of the seat to be worked on. Members RoseWolf Posted August 8, 2013 Members Report Posted August 8, 2013 Greetings Flyingcuda, I've only done one seat myself, so I'm far from an expert. However, from the research I did for that seat, my suggestion is 4oz to 5oz cowhide leather as it gives you a good balance of strength and flexibility. (Me being experimental, however, decided to do my seat in 5 oz buffalo hide...don't do it) Quote
Members shadowryder Posted August 8, 2013 Members Report Posted August 8, 2013 That seat would be best done with a heavy duty marine upholstery vinyl.. Quote
