Members ranchmom77 Posted August 12, 2013 Members Report Posted August 12, 2013 Hi all, I'm having some trouble finishing my first project. I'm making a bronc noseband out of 5/6 oz veg tan leather with a soft pigskin suede lining on the backside. It's looking awesome and I thought I was about finished, minus the sewing and edges. Tonight I applied gum trag to burnish the edges but the suede on the back pulled away rather than melded with the veg tan. It's glued together right up to the edge but it won't burnish. I read through Bob's edging post but didn't find anything that might help me except to maybe pull the suede off, apply a bigger piece (the suede is cut flush with the leather now), and then fold the edges under itself and sew it. I don't really want to do that but I will if that's all I can do. What should I do to get the suede to edge nicely with the leather? Thanks so much in advance! Jamie Quote
electrathon Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 The suede is chrome tanned. Chrome tan does not burnish. Quote

Contributing Member Ferg Posted August 12, 2013 Contributing Member Report Posted August 12, 2013 You will need to sew the suede. Use some paste wax carefully on the edges. Helps some but as was mentioned, Chrome Tanned will not burnish. ferg Quote
