Members Yetiusmc Posted August 28, 2013 Members Report Posted August 28, 2013 My friends wife asked me to make him a tool bag for his bike, so this is my interpretation. Not a standard bag I suppose, but a little more minimal., if that even makes sense! It is made from 5-6 oz black Horween chromexcel. I am really spoiled when I work with this leather. It is simply awesome! I need to make a hat or something out of it so I can smell this stuff all day! Comments and critiques are welcome! Thanks! Quote
Members texback Posted August 28, 2013 Members Report Posted August 28, 2013 Very nice job. I really like the contrast of the raw edge against the black. About the only critique I can give is I would round or taper the strap ends and round the corners of the flap......but it's just my preference. Quote
Members benlilly1 Posted August 28, 2013 Members Report Posted August 28, 2013 Nice shape! I also like the raw edge. So where are you getting your Chromexcel? What are the pluses for using it? Quote
Members Yetiusmc Posted August 28, 2013 Author Members Report Posted August 28, 2013 I thought about rounding them, but I figured it would look better against the straight cut front flap. Plus, I always seem to screw up those round edges! I got the leather from Springfield Leather. It is very soft, easy to manipulate. Cutting is as advertised, like cutting butter. It is very oily and waxy, so for gear that will be used outside, I definitely recommend it. Perfect for motorcycle gear and bushcraft. More pricey, but I think it is well worth it because it exudes quality. Just my humbleopinion however! Quote
