Matchlock Report post Posted September 7, 2013 Hello everyone; I don't think I've ever shown my work here before but I thought I would show this project to you. Thank you for the opportunity to display one of the items that I make. This is a rig I just completed for a gentleman in British Columbia. Your comments would be most welcome. RoyalLeatherDesigns Report post Posted September 7, 2013 That is nice..... One of the best ones I've seen. The finish on it looks great nice and bright. What kind of dye did you use? How did you seal it?

Matchlock Report post Posted September 7, 2013 (edited) Thank you kindly for the nice comments. Actually I use a lot of Tandy products in what I do simply because it's easily accessible. The color for this rig is their water based dyes and it is called desert tan. The only thing I did was cut it with water a little. I usually mix about 16 ounces at a time and I mix it two ounces of water to fourteen ounces of dye. The finish is a coat of Fiebing's Resolene, and after 24 hours I give it a double coating of Fiebing's Leather Balm with Atom Wax. It seems to do a nice job of giving it a shine, as well as giving it a waterproofing. Bud That is nice..... One of the best ones I've seen. The finish on it looks great nice and bright. Cogs Report post Posted September 7, 2013 You did a fantastic job there Bud! Hand stitch? I don't have a sewing machine so I can appreciate the work that goes into hand sewing all that belt! You gotta show us some of your other projects. Bill
Matchlock Report post Posted September 7, 2013 Thank you Bill, that's very nice of you. I wish I could say yes to the hand stitching but I'm afraid my old hands just won't do it any more. About two months ago I purchased a Tippman BOSS and it now looks after most of what I have to sew. I seem to be getting busier now so I think one of these days I'll buy a Cobra 3 or a 4 perhaps. I understand they're even nicer to use then the BOSS. Thanks again for your kind comments. Bud You did a fantastic job there Bud! Hand stitch? Matchlock Report post Posted September 8, 2013 Thank you Ray, I really appreciate your nice comment. In fact, I think you're right, because shortly after receiving his new gunbelt and holsters I received an email testimonial from him telling me how thrilled he and his wife were when he opened the box. I've had a few of those nice emails and letters over the years and it always makes my day. It's always nice when something you create from nothing is appreciated by so many. Thanks again Ray.
