My first Leather anything

I'm not sure if I am ready to post anything, kind of intimidated by the shear awesomeness of some of the stuff I have seen on here.

This is the first ever anything I did in leather. Did it last Monday. On Saturday I took a leather carving class that focused on Western Floral so I took alot of great info away from that class.

Anyway here is my first of what I hope to many items.

I have since learned to not let cut line cross

Also about using bevelers and the other cool tooling tools.

Anyway, When you stop laughing let me know what you think.

the best way to learn and improve as far as i'm concerned is to post your work.

western floral will give you lots of practice with many tools

Thanks, I can see the errors I made since I took that carving class.

I am looking for the floral carving we did in the class and I'll post it up when I find it.

The tool is Craftool E294-03 got it at Tandy leather in Austin.

I found it. It is unfinished so it doesn't show detail as well as if it had a stain or something on it.

I was impressed that I could turn out something this cool!

Very nice work, seems like you've got the general idea out of it.

Combine theese two and you get the western cemetary style invented by Froghunter and maybe you find your speciality;-)

My first ones were way uglier than this.

All of us have had our "First" as well as our "Second" and so on. Some of us have even had multiple "First" pieces. My first first was back in the 70's. I then had some 20 years away from leathercrafting as I had a full time job in Aerospace and a family to take care of and a dozen other hobbies until I finally came back to the leathercrafts. So now I am starting over again and exploring other carving styles. One thing that holds true is the old saying "practice makes perfect". The other one that I have found useful is the saying "Its hand crafted."

The Pic looks amazingly real. It seems like made by debossed mold mechine, if you don't told us the pattern you did.

I like this pic very much. as you can see the attachment. I've put the ghosts on the laptop and also have a mask mold on the wall.
