Members mikesmith648 Posted October 4, 2013 Members Report Posted October 4, 2013 Angelus dyes are the best option for many!! Quote
Members Matt S Posted October 4, 2013 Members Report Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) Fiebings dyes are popular, and for good reason. I like the "Professional Oil" ones. Edited October 4, 2013 by Matt S Quote
raysouth Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 Which is best? I use both Fiebings and Angelus and gradually switching to Angelus as my primary dye. Both are good products but I seem to enjoy working with the Angelus products as they have a great selection of items I have found to work well for me. Between the two, I would say that it is a personal preference thing. God Bless. Ray Quote
Members Cyberthrasher Posted October 5, 2013 Members Report Posted October 5, 2013 Between the two, I would say that it is a personal preference thing. Definitely. Angelus does have a broader range of colors though, so that's a good place to start. Myself, I use Fiebing's Pro Oil primarily, but as I need strange colors that i think will be popular, Angelus to the rescue. To the original poster - I'm not sure if Angelus has a dye prep, but I know Fiebings has their "Deglazer" product. Honestly, save yourself the money and just use Denatured Alcohol available in any household paint isle. Quote
Members lightingale Posted October 5, 2013 Members Report Posted October 5, 2013 My vote is for Angelus. I have both Angelus and Fiebings (and the Tandy brands), and I find that Angelus performs very similarly to the Fiebings spirit dyes. The selection of the Angelus dies is FAR superior, however. Quote
Members AndyH Posted November 1, 2013 Members Report Posted November 1, 2013 At what ratio do you dilute the denatured alcohol? Quote
Members Studio-N Posted November 1, 2013 Members Report Posted November 1, 2013 Fiebings Oil Dyes all the way. Buy from SLC, they have all the colors. Tandy has 4 colors only. Quote
Members Cyberthrasher Posted November 1, 2013 Members Report Posted November 1, 2013 At what ratio do you dilute the denatured alcohol? no need to dilute. I actually use regular old Isopropyl a lot as well, for both cleaning and reducing my dyes. Denatured is just a little stronger, but also a little more expensive. Quote
Members AndyH Posted November 1, 2013 Members Report Posted November 1, 2013 Thanks Cyberthrasher! Quote
Members cowgirlrae Posted November 30, 2013 Author Members Report Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) The Angelus dyes worked good on my project. thank you for the recommendations. http://glenmoultonle...ose-telecaster/ Edited November 30, 2013 by cowgirlrae Quote
Members Little John Posted January 23, 2014 Members Report Posted January 23, 2014 I find that the Black Angelus is the best I have found to date. For the Jet Black I use Angelus Gloss Acrylic Finish. Fot the Pro Black I use Roselene. Also I use there De-Glazer if I feel I need to. There Paste Shoe Wax is also a great product. If my Dye storage Cabenet was not full of Fiebings, I would order all Angelus. Quote
