edd Report post Posted October 17, 2013 Thought I'd share a padded 18mm watch-strap I've been working on. Quite a lot of failures along the way but definitely helped to improve my attention to detail!

Undeadzombiehunter Report post Posted October 17, 2013 They are very nice. I have made on or two myself, but my watch is very tight between the pins and the housing. What did you use between the layers to pad it out ? Tony

edd Report post Posted October 17, 2013 Thanks for the comments. It's hand-stitched with Gutermann Mara thread. The padding is soft calf-skin about 1.5mm thick.
5shot Report post Posted December 1, 2013 Where did you get the buckle? It is very sharp looking.
edd Report post Posted December 4, 2013 That one's just a cheap generic buckle, you can find them on ebay. I'd like to make my own at some point. Just holding off on more tool purchases!

ramrod Report post Posted December 17, 2013 very nice job! i really like this....i like the way you ended the padding before getting to the holes and the buckle. i've made a few of these but haven't used that idea. it would make it easier to buckle it i think. edd Report post Posted December 19, 2013 That's awesome! Great job. I am a watchmaker and always excited to see such quality custom straps. Thanks, for the kind words .Watchmaking looks like a truly skilled craft. I'd love to learn a bit one day. There are quite a few people making nice watch straps on the forum. Check out the work by a member on here called 'cjmt' very nice job! i really like this....i like the way you ended the padding before getting to the holes and the buckle. i've made a few of these but haven't used that idea. it would make it easier to buckle it i think. Cheers Ramrod. I tried padding all the way to the end too, but found it looked neater to finish it halfway and definitely slides into the keepers better.
