8thsinner Report post Posted September 29, 2008 (edited) Here is a new bracelet. As for my usual style it's a survival bracelet...and mostly braided. The survival nature of it is in the balls themselves, as far as I am aware they are stainless steel with a nickel back, fairly heavy for all the size of it anyway. They can double as catapult Ammunition for hunters of squirell or rabbit or something. I still have one knot to do though... gaucho to cover the button... Kinda ran out though The way it was made is this... take 6 x 50cm strands of 1mm round leather, overlay them by 15 cm three going one way three going the other. Tie them at the end of one edge of the overlap Then do a three strand braid with the doubled strand. Tie off the other end.. Fold the braid in half Bring both cinching ties together and tie them off using a 7th x 50cm strand Take the seventh strand up through the middle of the fold, out the edge of the fold and around the braid a few times working away from the loop side..., then through itself...trim it off. Attach beads as it should be easy to see in the pics... Strand 1& - Always go through the outer edge of a bead... 3 Alternates between outer bead and inner bead. Strand always goes through the middle bead 5 Alternates between inner bead and outer bead 6 & 7 always go through the outer bead.. bring them all together after 25 beads,28, 31 etc or so.... and place over hand knots in a line, going over all the strands... add a turks head button knot from wall and crown knot. Cover it witha larger turks head. Trim off the loose ends and add the final braided knot to finish the button. Tie a double strand turks head around the loop end, and use it as a slider to hold the button in place when your wearing it.. Hope you enjoy trying it if any of you do.... 8thsinner Report post Posted October 1, 2008 Well I was actually gonna start at $30, simply because the only source I have for steel ball bearings drilled wide enough to use as a bead is like $14 equivalent for a pack enough for two bracelets... Thats why I said start at $20 and go from there...sorry if I offended you, that certainly was not my intention. Pip Report post Posted October 1, 2008 I love it, really cool, I learned to make a sling some time ago and its a handy way to carry it, without carrying a weapon.... Thats not to say I can use it, I am useless ha ha ha. I think $30 is ok, but if you did get cheaper BB's that would make them more saleable or you more profit either way I'd be sorely tempted. Heres one I will share Have a look at the watch strap, the base of which looks just like a comforter...Nope it's a love sling without slits... Poke two holes below the level of the cross ways braid, insert a boot lace and tie it up so it leaves both holes and locks onto the cross braid with a larks head. Tie them off at the right length and a sling is made... If you need to you can punch a series of three or so holes just to help it balance during the spinning process...
