Anybody else seen the Texas Ranger rig she wears in this show? I'm feeling the urge to make something similar...can't find many good pics of it tho...

It's a beautiful rig I'm toying with trying something like that to use for our range days at the PD I work for.

Wonder if Will Ghromley was the maker. He does lots of Hollywood holsters.

I found a better pic of the belt buckle she uses and I'm pretty sure it's the same one they sell at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame museum. They are made by inmates, I'd like to see a closeup of the holster though it has a flap on the outside top that I'm not sure if it is a thumb break or a hammer thong

Looks like the rig worn by Nick Nolte in "Extreme Prejudice". His holster and belt are copies of the leather that Texas Ranger Jackson actually wore. The holster is the style credited to A.W. Brill and a variation is available from El Paso Saddle company. Hope this helps.

P.S. Just went online and searched both Ranger Joaquin Jackson and A.W. Brill. The Jackson

search had a couple photos of him, but none showed useable close-ups of his leather gear. The A.W. Brill search had quite a few detailed close-ups of this type of rig that you might find useful.

I did notice that there seems to be more than 1 rig at least in the promo photos. There is another rig in some if the pics that has some red or burgundy in it as well as flaps and snaps over the mag pouches. Hard to find any good detailed pics of any of it tho...in watching the show, the only setup I've seen her wear is the one I posted.

Thanks for the info Mike, I'll do a little research and see what I can find on A.W. Brill...

Nick Nolte did use Joaquin Jackson as an adviser on his leather in Extreme Prejudice. Nolte practically copied Jackson's holster. And I agree that her holster is a clone/copy of Nolte's.

Scroll down about 2/3 of the way. There is an "Extreme Prejudice" holster and some comments on our subject.

If you scroll down a little further on Reds link you will see the buckle set that looks like the one on her belts

In watching the show tonight, I got a little better (but very brief) look at the holster. There is a flap on the outside that almost looks like a reverse sweat guard. It doesn't appear to be a hammer thong or thumb break...I guess it's just there to protect the gun. She draws the gun at one point and there doesn't appear to be any retention other than the friction of the holster.

Definitely haven't seen another Ranger rig with a flap like that in any of my searches, although the setup in general looks almost just like the Extreme Prejudice rig.

It looks like they might have added a "dog ear" similar to the Texas Ranger "Dog Ear" Double Action Holster. The flap was meant to protect the liner of the jacket or coat from snagging on the hammer or adjustable rear sight. There is an example of it on Chisholm Leather's website. The Milt Sparks 200AW holster also incorporating a shroud to protect the jacket liner.

Speaking of dog ears, the show received some of the worst reviews I have ever read.

Didn't see the "dog ear", guess I need to look a little harder. Guess that would help with a seatbelt or center console as well...

LOL red cent...I just watched it for the gun leather:)
