I am very new to leather working, however this project seemed like a good beginners project. I purchased some 5-6 oz. leather in hopes of making this very durable. It seems far too thick now that Ive tried it. Any tips or advice to get this project accomplished would help thank you!

3 oz should do ya, bud. 5-6 is a bit overkill. You'll end up with a massive leather phone brick!

Go to YouTube and check out Ian Atkinson. If the weight is not listed in the description, give him a holler. He is in the UK. He is a nice fella. If you cannot find him, check out my FB page and I should have his under my 'likes' page. Good luck

Ive tried contacting Ian, however I have not gotten a reply. Im going to make a guess that this is 2-3 oz. leather. Any opinions?

3 - 4 oz should work good and hold up to the wet forming process.
