Im wanting to do make a halter with the 10 plait Then I was thinking about making a Belt with the 12 Or do you guys know anywhere to look to find the info on braids? Quote
rcsaddles Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 You can do either an over 1 under 1 or over 2 under 2 for a 10 or 12 flat braid. I think you can probably find how to start them on You Tube. If not, check books by Ron Edwards, Bruce Grant, R M Williams and David Morgan. If you need more info, just ask. Quote
Members cst Posted May 25, 2014 Members Report Posted May 25, 2014 I've got the sequence I like, but I can't remember how much shrinkage to allow. Say I've got to go 8inches, how long should my stri gs be to start? Quote
Members KnotHead Posted May 25, 2014 Members Report Posted May 25, 2014 for 8 inches. I usually start out with about a yard and a half for the oops factor. Brian.. Quote
rcsaddles Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 In my experience you lose about 1/3 while braiding. If you want something to end up at 8 inches, you should start with your strands being about 24 inches long. You half them to start the flat braid and that will give you enough to hold on to to pull tight at the end. Quote
