Pinky Report post Posted March 12, 2014 Just wondering what I can stick to the back of a belt that I'm planning on embossing to stop it from going out of shape. Also wondering what you would use to line the back of the belt to give it a neater finish by covering the embossing indentations or if you would even bother doing this? Tina Report post Posted March 12, 2014 There's several ways "out there" to help out...I use the blue 3M's tape (2 inch wide) in 2 layers, crossed at the back. I'm sure more tips will come in to help you out :-)

Dwight Report post Posted March 12, 2014 I don't have a lot of experience embossing, . . . but the last belts we did, . . . we lightened the pressure a bit, . . . made everything so much better. We wanted really deep impressions, . . . but it gave us other problems, . . . like you mentioned. May God bless, Dwight

wlg190861 Report post Posted March 12, 2014 I've never embossed but, I would use Gorilla duct tape, one way to stop stretching. I just made a belt and, lined it with pig skin, thought it was not going to work out good but, after wearing for two weeks, I love it
3wunder Report post Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) I don't know whether or not I'm remembering this correctly, but I think I read some book where they mentioned sticking the leather onto cardboard with non-permanent glue ... might've been for some other purpose, though. Ed. for grammar. Edited March 15, 2014 by 3wunder
evensteven Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Go to the hardware store and buy some clear, adhesive shelf liner. Cut it to size and stick it to the back of your leather before you tool. Works great!
