Members skootx Posted April 7, 2014 Members Report Posted April 7, 2014 So... what's the best way to attach T270 bonded nylon thread to my sewing needles? I tried a double half hitch, turtle knot, taut line hitch, they all slip out. Quote
Members celticleather Posted April 7, 2014 Members Report Posted April 7, 2014 This method works for me . . . http://www.bowstock.co.uk/tan_win.html You can always melt the end of the thread if it becomes untwisted. Quote
Members BDAZ Posted April 8, 2014 Members Report Posted April 8, 2014 Thats what I do and it works like a champ! Cya! Bob Quote
Members skootx Posted April 8, 2014 Author Members Report Posted April 8, 2014 Thanks. I tried that method but the nylon thread frayed apart and didn't hold well. I ended up getting the turtle knot to work if I don't cinch it down right to the top of the needle. Quote

Members skootx Posted April 9, 2014 Author Members Report Posted April 9, 2014 That's why you melt the end of the thread! Yup... I reread the thread and figured that out. Quote
Members chiefjason Posted April 9, 2014 Members Report Posted April 9, 2014 I don't use any attachment. Thread the needle and stitch. I pull on the thread, not the needle once the doubled thread comes through. I hand stitch a lot. Don't have many needles come off. Quote
Members WScott Posted April 9, 2014 Members Report Posted April 9, 2014 I cheat and thread the needle through the eye then melt a small mushroom on the threads end and mould it to be just bigger than the eye so I won't pull through it. Works for me and is quick to fix as well. Quote
Members needles Posted April 9, 2014 Members Report Posted April 9, 2014 sometimes I can't or dont use waxed, on these ocassions I use the same method as celtic knot and the other guys above, but i poke the needle through the threads tail not once but about 3 times before pulling it through. this normally holds enough to sew with.
