Knot For Attaching Bonded Nylon Thread To Needle

Recommended Posts

So... what's the best way to attach T270 bonded nylon thread to my sewing needles? I tried a double half hitch, turtle knot, taut line hitch, they all slip out.

Thanks. I tried that method but the nylon thread frayed apart and didn't hold well. I ended up getting the turtle knot to work if I don't cinch it down right to the top of the needle.

. . . the nylon thread frayed apart and didn't hold well. . .

That's why you melt the end of the thread!

I don't use any attachment. Thread the needle and stitch. I pull on the thread, not the needle once the doubled thread comes through. I hand stitch a lot. Don't have many needles come off.

I cheat and thread the needle through the eye then melt a small mushroom on the threads end and mould it to be just bigger than the eye so I won't pull through it. Works for me and is quick to fix as well.

sometimes I can't or dont use waxed, on these ocassions I use the same method as celtic knot and the other guys above, but i poke the needle through the threads tail not once but about 3 times before pulling it through. this normally holds enough to sew with.
