Is it meant to be crimped in place on the exterior of the wallet?

It looks the same as this one. So yeah probably placed on the outside but not sure if you crimp it or just use pressure.

I was thinking about crimping it. I bought two, I guess I'll mash the first one down and if it doesn't work, try something else. Thanks

No problem man. I wish those came in nickel.

Put it in a vise with leather jaws and clamp it tight to the two sides of leather.

Sometimes skiving is required.

If you use pliers it will have little dents all the way down.

Thanks. I crimped it down with some old sheet metal break pliers (wide smooth jaws) but wasn't happy with the results. I will do the next with my vise.

They do come in nickel (plated). I just bought 5 nickel and 5 gold and I too am having trouble figuring out how to install them.
