Members Konapaniolo Posted May 28, 2014 Members Report Posted May 28, 2014 I have a opportunity to purchase an Adler 105-64 sewing machine at a fair market cost. I plan on doing saddle and heavy leather work. Do you folks think that this is a strong enough machine for what I am wanting to do? I have always liked the Cowboy machines and I know they will perform, Yet a little input would be great... Thanks! Quote
CowboyBob Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 They are a great machine as long as you want to sew under 1/2".Don't forget to take some samples along & try it out. Quote Bob Kovar Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine Sales Ltd. 3631 Marine Rd Toledo,Ohio 43609 1-866-362-7397
Trox Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 The Adler is of very good quality and will sew about 14 mm thick, as long as the material is flat. Its no good on climbing. Its a bottom and needle feed and will perform better with a roller foot attached. A Cowboy class CB 3500, CB 4500 or the new budget CB 3200 (only 1500-1600 $) are "pimped" Juki 441 clone with triple feed. They will out preform the Adler in all but quality. Then I have to remind you of the Adler being a 40 year old machine. I have both the old Adler and the new 441 clone and I use the last for my sewing. That said, the Adler lays down a beautiful stitch.
