AndyL1 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Hey all, My finished briefcase I started what seems oh-so-long-ago! Double compartment bag sized to a 15" MacBook, lined with pigskin on the inside flap. Off to live out its days in Belgium. Cheers, Andy Quote

AndyL1 Posted June 12, 2014 Author Report Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) Thanks all! This one came out real nice... I had a hard time sending it away! I think I've come so far since my first bag, I kind of want to make a new one for myself (if I ever get the time!) Some details shots added here. Cheers, Andy Edited June 12, 2014 by AndyL1 Quote
Members eransh10 Posted June 12, 2014 Members Report Posted June 12, 2014 This is really beautiful bag. Can you share some details about the leather (veg tanned ?) or on the way you dyed it ? From here it looks like veg tanned dyed and then used some sort of antique black gel ???? Quote

From here it looks like veg tanned dyed and then used some sort of antique black gel ???? Thanks! It's made from some very nice veg tan; 6/7 for the panels and gussets, 9/10 for the main flap (skived down on the sides so as not too thick). I used Tandy's Pro Waterstain in Bordeaux and the antiquing is my tried and true sponge dye with black all-in-one. Oiled and conditioned with Neatsfoot and a little Lexol. Sealed with Resolene cut with 50% water. I also cut the Bordeaux stain with water as I think it goes on too dark straight. Members MonicaJacobson Posted June 12, 2014 Members Report Posted June 12, 2014 Very, very nice. I love the coloring job, the inside pockets, and pretty much everything else about it. Quote
