Woodentop Report post Posted June 29, 2014 Hi folks, Could you help please, how rare are no. 14 11/2 pricking irons? I have one I would like to sell just wondered its value and scarcity. If anyone has any Gomph/Osborne (pre 40's with Brazilian rosewood mahogany handles) handtools for sale I may be interested to buy to increase my working collection. Many thanks John
TXAG Report post Posted June 29, 2014 I think Dixon will pretty much make any width and SPI someone wants. Wouldn't think it would be rare. I'm not in the market for that high SPI so I don't have any vested interest in what you sell it for...
camano ridge Report post Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) CHeck with Bruce Johnson on these forums or go to his site. He may be able to help you with possible value of pricking iron. H delas in vintage leather tools and stamps you might find some of what he has to be of interest to you, or let him know what you are looking for. http://brucejohnsonleather.com/content/index.php/leather_tools_for_sale/ Edited June 30, 2014 by camano ridge

No idea of value, not that many people stitch at that kind of spi now though so may not be as desirable as a lower spi iron I suspect Charlie
Macca Report post Posted June 30, 2014 as above, if its in good condition it is worth something, anything worn or damaged & its next to useless. Cant see it going for more than a new Blanchard 14 SPI though, maybe someone would pay more but just seems daft to me. Also one iron on its own is not that useable, 1 1/2 @ 14 SPI iron is quite difficult to use for curves/corners If you had a 2 prong to go with it, then you are talking some money
