Just picked up a singer 44-10. Its in pretty rough shape but not too terrible. I got the wheel to turn and oiled it to hell and gone. All of the mechanics seem to be turning well. Apparently the guy I got it from had been messing with the hook timing because the screws are loose. Im wondering if anyone can give me any advice on setting the timing right. I searched the forum and the only 44-10 post I found said it was basically a short arm version of a 31-15. I have a 31-15 which i absolutley love. How much in common do they actually have. Btw the 44-10 has a roller foot on it which ive never used.

Thanx

This machine is a short version of the 31-15 so set the timing the same as it & it'll sew.

Thanx Bob I appreciate it. I've set it to look just like my 31-15 but the problem im haveing is the thread isnt making a loop. The hook passes above the eye of the needle just fine but the thread isnt looping and the hook passes by.

the hook has to meet the needle above the needle eye when the needle is on the way up again. Look how it works on your 31-15 when you turn the hand wheel slowly. It´s probably the needle bar you have to adjust a bit.
