Using Resolene in an airbrush

Recommended Posts

I've been airbrushing Resolene onto my leather masks, using a Paasche H with a #5 tip at 40 psi. It dries so fast that it often clogs up and the spray is greatly diminished. How do you all deal with this? Thanks, :helpsmilie:

I have the same problem, I usually just sponge it on but this smears the dye especially when two colours overlap.

Airbrushing does a great job but clogs up real quick even if I lower the air pressure, watering it down didn't help me either, and made it too wet.

I would also be interested to hear what others have experience with this method.

I use full strength Resolene around 13psi from a cheapo 5.99 Harbor Freight airbrush. I just use the tip to adjust a heavier or lighter coat.

If you stop spraying for a few minutes and walk off, the tip will dry slightly and you'll get a little Resolene boogy. So check the tip if you do the same. Of course when you're done, be sure to rinse out the brush and tube to its ready.

Dont have airbrush or use resolene yet but from my past experience with airbrushes is if you are using something that tends to dry on ya like that try a external mixing airbrush. These arent the best design airbrush but for larger sprays and such they do pretty good. THis may help prevent it from clogging up around the needle at the tip.
