How To Highlight Carving Image

good morning. I just started leather carving and was wondering how do you highlight the carved images so that they stand out like what I've seen on some of the fellow members work. thanks again

if im right....which im probably not, but i think he has used a resist method (using super sheene etc) and then gone over it with black highlighter. just a guess ;-)
