Members Austyn Posted August 20, 2014 Members Report Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) Hey friends! Im new to waxing leather! Ive been using a wool cloth to rub the wax into the leather but it just leaves little hairs all over. What type of cloth should I use? Any type of waxing info would be out standing! Thank you! Members camano ridge Posted August 20, 2014 Members Report Posted August 20, 2014 Any lintless cloth. Some people use shearling. What type of "wax" are you using? Are you waxing products that you have made or waxing store bought products? Quote
Members TomG Posted August 20, 2014 Members Report Posted August 20, 2014 I bought a bolt of heavy white fabric - I think it's duck cloth maybe? Sort of a lightweight canvas with a tight weave. Paid about $5 and been cutting pieces off it for several years. I apply with that and when dried, I buff with a piece of wool. Quote
Members Austyn Posted August 20, 2014 Author Members Report Posted August 20, 2014 Im using beeswax mixed with oils. And yes Im using products that Ive made! Quote
Members camano ridge Posted August 20, 2014 Members Report Posted August 20, 2014 I use a similar mix, most of the time I use my fingers to rub it in. On larger surfaces lik rifle scabbards I us a cotton terry wax applicator from local auto parts store. You can get the applicatorsat Wal-Mart etc. Even a terry cloth towel should be pretty lint free.
