I picked up a beat up old Singer that appears to be a 111W but the model tag is missing. is there any way to tell for sure if this is a 111w155 or other? I am making the determination on the fact that I can get better than 5 stiches per inch - a unique feature of the 111w155 I think - and a few other things like to safety clutch.

Yes,it looks like a 155 because it has the roller bearing on the bottom shaft & probably the top too (next to the timing belt)& this machine also has the cam on the topshaft to adjust the height of the feet as they walk.
