leatherjunkie Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Hello everyone. I am very new to this website. I learned about this website while i was taking sherdian tooling class taught by Chan Geer. anyways, after reading the post on making edge slickers out of coco bolo and some people advise on how you can have a reaction to it because of whats in the wood. I figured this was my cue to chime in. I do quite a bit of woodturning, mainly ink pens, pencils, and coco bolo is one of the many woods that i use. I have no troubles turning, sanding and finishing coco bolo. So if someone wants a coco bolo slicker post or mail me a design on what you want and will let you know if i can do it or not. only asking price will be for cost of materials and shipping cost to your doorstep. hidecrafter also sells a bone folder style edge slicker made out of coco bolo and this is what i use to slick my edges with and it works great for me. it has 3 different size groves in one end to slick edges with. you can also use deer antler for a edge slicker. esantoro Report post Posted October 31, 2008 This is a tremendous offer. I'd love to pick your brain on making pens, as I just got the basic equipment to make them. Ed

TheTrooper Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Can you post pictures of the hidecrafter slicker? I am not "leatherjunkie" but I think i know which slicker he means so I post a picture. Sadly Hidecrafter has no online catalog. So I copied the part of their catalog. Here we go, I think leatherjunkie means the 2nd one from the top right side of the picture. Cheers, Marcel

My Hidecrafter PDF catalog is corrupt somehow and doesn't show pictures, and I can't find my print catalog. In addition to a slicker like the one Norm Lynds makes, I'd like to make small circular slickers that can be used either by hand or in a dremel. My idea is to use short sections of 1" cocobolo dowels to make a slicker with 3/4" and 1/2" grooves. The next one will have 1/4" and 1/8" grooves. ed
