Sharon Mallory Report post Posted October 17, 2014 Just got this machine and I need to buy smaller needles for it than the sizes it came with but I don't know what numbers to ask for. My Artisan uses size 135 x 17 then either 16-24. Easy, this one has different numbers for each size and I don't know what to get, I don't want to hurt it. I need to get size 20-22 and I'm hoping to get them tomorrow at the store. Thanks. Also does anyone know where I'm supposed to mount the small led light on the machine? It came with screws and magnets. Thanks for any help. Sharon
JLSleather Report post Posted October 17, 2014 The little light, put up under the top of the casting so it shines on the work. Those little magnets fit the CORD, so you can route it up out of the way. The cord on that little thing is quite long, kinda handy for seeing back in those little corners to oil the machine. Oh, and the screws are to mount the switch to the underside of the table (or, you could use a twist tie and just bundle it to the power cord.

Red Cent Report post Posted October 18, 2014 "Just got this machine and I need to buy smaller needles for it than the sizes it came with but I don't know what numbers to ask for." What size thread will you be using? The C4 usually comes with 277 top and bottom and a #23 needle. Smaller needles may cause you problems. I use 277 top and 207 bottom with a #24 needle. JLSleather Report post Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) That machine "supposedly" handle down to #69 thread, which would be like a 16 or 18 needle, yes? Realistically, if you have an Artisan that uses 16-24 needles, I'd just use that for such projects. Oh, and if you talk to Steve you might confirm with him, I think that 135x17 is a round point needle, and the diamond ("leather") counterpart is a 135x16 (same needle with a chisel point). Sharon Mallory Report post Posted October 19, 2014 The needles are very long compared to my other machine which takes 135 x 17. I use fabric mixed with leather on some bags and I've only used up to size 92 thread so far. I will get 138 but I don't know how big 207 is. I found the magnets go on the cord but I like the idea of under the ledge to mount the light! I asked Steve before I bought this one and he said it will take 69 & 92 thread. I got the machine for the ability to sew with more of a free arm. I'm just not sure what to do with such big thread, needles too. Thank you all for your replies, I really appreciate your advice!
