Evo160K Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 This clutch motor came with the Claes 8345-30 Patcher that I've been restoring. The machine seems to be sewing well, and the motor and clutch are working, at least I haven't noticed anything obvious other than the often discussed issue of the machine starting abruptly versus the servo motors. My question is, what does the large bolt and locking nut in the picture do, and what is the theory behind it's adjustment? In other words, I'd like to know how to tell when it's adjusted correctly? CowboyBob Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 That bolt adjusts the brake,if the travel of the pedal gets to be to much from stop to go you can turn this in to decrease it.It needs to be done after while because both the brake pad & clutch that makes it run are made of cork & as you use the machine they wear alittle making them thinner.
