Members RoosterShooter Posted October 27, 2014 Members Report Posted October 27, 2014 There is a sewing machine for sale locally, and the lady claims that she used to sew heavy canvas on it. I can't find anything on the net about it, but thought maybe some of you might know the name, brand, and it's capabilities. It's a Electro Hygiene and it also has a plate that says .... Precision Built ... E-399 Can anyone give me info on this? I am wanting to use it for heavy canvas and canvas webbing / straps Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted October 27, 2014 Moderator Report Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) Never heard of it. If you are remotely interested in it, call the seller to arrange to test the machine. Take your material with and see how well it sews it. Also, ask what size and type of thread the seller has. There's little sense in sewing heavy webbing with light weight thread and a tiny needle. Members SARK9 Posted October 27, 2014 Members Report Posted October 27, 2014 There are several models branded "Electro Hygiene"... some are straight stitch only, some zig-zag. Basically they are one of the Japanese-made "HA-1" clones of the Singer model 15 domestic sewing machine. Many were made by Toyota. Some are very well made, but it is still a home machine. -DC Quote Machines: Juki LU-563, Consew 206-RB5, Singer 20U33, Pfaff 481, Mitsubishi CU-865-22, Consew 29B, Rebadged Juki LU-562, Mitsubishi LS2-180, Seiko SK-6, Juki LG-158-1
