OdinUK Report post Posted November 9, 2014 Looks good. May I ask what sort of press you use?
Studio-N Report post Posted November 9, 2014 thank you. I test these with a 1 ton arbor press (which has a 1" square ram). I start in one corner, press them move over 1 inch. Rinse and repeat until it is done. If I want to do it all at once, I've got a 12 ton shop press that can do the job. I have found that if I put a piece of rubber or thick leather underneath the piece I'm going to press, it helps to push the leather up into the stamp for a good deep embossing, especially on thin (4/5 oz) leather like used on a wallet back. silverwingit Report post Posted November 9, 2014 Can I ask how you made the back plate itself? Carved and then cast? Lost wax? Just carved out of the block of plastic? I've done a bit of casting myself. It ain't as easy as you would think to get it perfect. Nice work! Thanks, Michelle
Studio-N Report post Posted November 10, 2014 Hello Michelle, These are directly cut with a CNC router into 1/2" thick delrin. These could probably be cast from these models, but it is just as easy to cut them individually now. Cheers!
