Gluing Piece Prior To Tooling?

having issues with leather piece expanding when I do a lot of backgrounding. Which distorts the lines and edges already in place. I read some where about gluing poster board or something to back of piece to keep this from happening.....anyone use this method or have any other suggestions??

If it's a big piece like a note book I glue it to poster board with rubber cement, that will solve your problem. If it's a strap like a belt I use packing tape. If you use tape rub it firmly with something to secure it better or the tape will loosen, I use a round maul.

Thanks i will give it a shot. it is a belt by the way. curious about removing posterboard......what kinda removal process does that take?

If it's a double layer belt like a gun belt, I'll go ahead and glue the two pieces together prior to tooling.

Use rubber glue, it's made for taking stuff back apart. Just pull the poster board off the leather (it removes easily) not the leather off the board, if you pull on the leather it could stretch a little.
