I don't really know a thing about horse tack... but as a leatherworking project - it's a little rough around the edges, but overall, it's very attractive and rather awesome.

Having used this style a lot I offer: Shorten up the buckle end as close as you can so that, in use, the billet end is pointed back along the middle and not sticking out in the wind to drag and catch on things.

Wow, For your first set od hobbles they look great, especially the tooling. Is that hand stitched? And if you don't mind me asking were did you get the pattern for those?

Thank you guys for the advice. Will definitely work on it with the next set.

Buckaroo 19 The pattern I used is from some old papers that a friend gave me when I decided to do leather work. I believe its from Chan Geer. The hobbles aren't hand stitched I got a machine a year ago. It is what got me into leather work actually.

I did a search on google for hobble patterns and couldn't find any. Is there any way you could email me the pattern?

Buckaroo, I thought you were asking about the tooling pattern. The pattern for the hobbles I used an old pair that I've had for years and just made an outline on some graph paper. I will see if I saved it and try to scan it and send it to you.
