Need Some Help On My First Wallet

I am looking at Making myself a wallet buy I am interested in purchasing a pre made interior. My question is does the outer portion of the wallet need to be bigger the interior of the wallet?

I bought some interiors from Springfield and the outer part ( the shell) just glues to the interior and they were the same size . On my bifolds ( you can see some of them un my "gallery) I make the outer part longer by 3/4in to allow for a proper fold
