ArtS Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Looks classy Josh. One word of advice though. Make sure they put the IPOD in with the back facing forward. Pushing the snap shut could do damage to the touch screen. Art Quote
Members 8thsinner Posted November 11, 2008 Members Report Posted November 11, 2008 Not that I like I pods, but the case is very cool looking. What did you use to finish it, it's extremely shiny looking? Quote

The fellow wanted a mirror look So I did three coats of saddle lac and sanded with 800 grit in between 2-3 coats. Josh Quote
Members Dragons Pearl Posted November 11, 2008 Members Report Posted November 11, 2008 Would a magnetic clasp work instead of a snap? I am thinking of using magnets for future cell phone cases instead of snaps/velcro. Nice work too! Quote

I have used magnets in the past those thin ones are great but I showed him the magnets and he said snap and I said yes master LOL. Thanks all for the input and kind words Josh Quote
tashabear Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Would a magnetic clasp work instead of a snap? I am thinking of using magnets for future cell phone cases instead of snaps/velcro.Nice work too! It depends on the type of iPod. I wouldn't want to use a magnet with an iPod classic, as it has a traditional hard drive memory. iPod touch, nano, and iPhone all have solid state memory and would be unaffected by magnets. Quote
Members calanneh Posted November 11, 2008 Members Report Posted November 11, 2008 Looks great Josh! Keep up the good work! The only advise for sewing by hand, pull each stitch snug and take it slow. If you rush, you will find yourself jerking the thread and either warping the leather some or breaking the thread. I use wax thread from Tandy for all my cases and it works well. William Quote

I forgot about the memory type. Thanks for the knock on the noggin! Quote
Members escherblacksmith Posted November 12, 2008 Members Report Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) minor point, virtually all screens (little video screens, etc), are affected and tweaked by localized magnetic fields. Having one sitting right in front of the screen of the I-Pod could cause a rainbow distortion effect over the screen, centering on the magnetic field source. My older I-Pod has a slight one caused by the internal harddrive. It is usually temporary . . . The case is quite gorgeous! Edited November 12, 2008 by escherblacksmith Quote
