cleanview Report post Posted January 31, 2015 Asked to do a glock 27 and it looks to me like I could make one from a glock 17/22 and just allow the slide to come out the end. From what I gather the only difference is a beveled slide end on the 27 which I don't really se as a factor. But if I was SURE.......I would not be asking you. What say you...... JLSleather Report post Posted January 31, 2015 Those models are NOT the same. If you're making 'sack' holsters (or whatever they call that these days, where the leather folds around, and remains loose) they are close enough to the same circumference. If you are making formed holsters that are at all close, the two are NOT interchangeable. You could get the 27 to go in a holster made for the 17, but before long it wouldn't fit the 17 any more. cleanview Report post Posted January 31, 2015 can you elaborate? Not that I doubt you. i just google pics and specs and I thought it was the same thickness in slide and trigger guard. I could only find that the end ov the barrel was beveled on the 27. And to be clear it was to build a 27 holster for a customer using my
Haystacker Report post Posted January 31, 2015 It will work. With the obvious differences in barrel length.
Ken G Report post Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) The G27 will fit in a holster molded from a G19, maybe a little loose, but not vice versa. Besides the bevel to the slide of the G26/27 the bevel of the polymer frame is different on the smaller models. On the 26/27 the frame is beveled immediately in front of the trigger guard and the bevel on the 19 is about 3/8" forward of the trigger guard and has a steeper profile. Also, since the 26/27 has no rail the dust cover area is rounder than on the 19. Edited January 31, 2015 by Ken G
Ken G Report post Posted January 31, 2015 G26/27 on the left, G19/23 on the right.
JLSleather Report post Posted January 31, 2015 Yeah, well.... short version...Jeff has some blue guns a bit discounted from price of new. If you're making holsters for the 27, I'd suggest taking advantage of the discounted 27 if he still has one.
Haystacker Report post Posted February 1, 2015 I am getting old. After looking at the pictures that Ken G posted, I went down to my shop and compared my 26/27 blue gun to my 19/23 blue gun. Not even close just like Ken G picture and JLS stated. Sorry about my earlier incorrect post. I do have the 26/27 blue gun for sale $34.00 includes shipping. cleanview Report post Posted February 1, 2015 very informative. When I have looked for "comparability" before......I looked from the top looking down at the slide and the shape of the trigger........not thinking (why I still say I am new) about the bottom side area you showed. Hastack if you want to invoice me I will take that blue gun as well. the 26
JLSleather Report post Posted February 12, 2015 We didn't hear how that came out. I KNOW you have a G19 pattern You "could" use the G19 pattern to make a holster for the 27 with little modification, some of which was mentioned before. Just don't expect holsters with the 27 pattern to fit the 19 once it's formed with the 27 "dummy"!
