wantedleatherworks Report post Posted March 2, 2015 I finally made myself a fishing chair to use here on the coast of Texas. I used stainless hardware (Not the Tri screw thing). it is 16" wide with 24" x 1.125" oak dowel rods. the hardware is a 3" Stainless Bolt and a 1.5" Stainless Eye Bolt and Stainless Washers. The Pirate theme reflects the skull from my logo and it is Pirate for my Daughters School Mascot. this is my first chair and now i have 4 orders from the first 4 people that saw it. kevlar34 Report post Posted March 3, 2015 Looks great, I've made a couple using the same leg design, they are actually very comfortable. Your multi-color dye looks very crisp. Do you use Eco-flo dye or coca type? I have issues with my colors running when I put sheen on to seal it.
wantedleatherworks Report post Posted March 3, 2015 I used feibings dye createx paint and eco flow antique gel finished with super sheen.
Ta2ooz Report post Posted March 3, 2015 That is super cool, I've been meaning to make one similar, but keep finding other things to make.

wantedleatherworks Report post Posted March 4, 2015 I was going to do the background as a treasure map then saw a thread on using wood for background. I love this forum.

Haha and I was going to ask for the treasure map. Now you'll have to add that it'll be found under the seat.
Oldtoolsniper Report post Posted March 4, 2015 That is really a nice set up. Is there a common set of plans for these? Looks like they would be great for farm auctions, rifle ranges, campfires and the extra body that always show up.

Oldtoolsniper Report post Posted March 4, 2015 Thanks for pointing those out. Do you see any advantage to the welded three way bolts over the bolt and eyebolt method? I have access to welding pretty much any type of metal so welding is not a problem for me. My question is more of how they fold up and store.
wantedleatherworks Report post Posted March 4, 2015 i do not have access to a welder or the skills to pull it off. many people are using the "tribolt" method. if i were to try it i would want to do it in Stainless here because of the saltwater. i weigh 300 pounds and this method holds me very well.
