venator Report post Posted April 4, 2015 So I have a DA 467 and the thread tension on the upper thread seems insane. I have to wrap it around my fingers to get enough traction to pull it through and often when I try to pull a piece away from the machine after stitching the upper thread breaks. How much tension should be up there? This seems absurd. . .
amuckart Report post Posted April 4, 2015 Is the top tension being released properly when you raise the presser foot? What you describe does seem high, but if it stitches Ok and isn't unbalanced or burying into the work too far it should be Ok.
venator Report post Posted April 4, 2015 No, I have to push the manual release button on the plate in order to release tensino.
Constabulary Report post Posted April 4, 2015 Do you have a parts list for your machine? There is a tiny pin inside the tesion unit that pushes agains a small bar on the tension release disc when you lift the foot. You usually can adjust the small bar a bit toward the machine so the tension releases a bit earlier but be carefull do not brake it. Or check if the tiny pin inside the tension unit is probably missing.
