Colt W Knight Report post Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) My Consew 206 RB-1 will sew up to about 3/8" vegtan leather, but the 206 has compound feed. I don't believe the 205 does. I think the 205 was intended for fabric and garment weight leather. Hopefully someone on the forum will have experience with this machine and can tell you its capabilities. Wizcrafts Report post Posted April 13, 2015 The 205 has top and bottom feed, with teeth on the presser foot. It is primarily a vinyl and cloth sewing machine.
Rowdybarn Report post Posted April 13, 2015 I understand it is not designed for it, but I've seen videos of it sewing some pretty thick leather, just seeing if anyone had experience doing that with it.
Wizcrafts Report post Posted April 13, 2015 I worked for a friend in his leather shop and he had a similar machine. It pulled like a son of a bitch, but marked the leather pretty deeply. Other than that, it didn't match the capacity of the compound feed machine I had at home. Both were National brand machines. I believe you will be better served by a regular compound feed machine, like the Consew 206RB-5.
Rowdybarn Report post Posted April 14, 2015 Thanks Wiz, I have seen some smooth pressed feet for these as well, that's what I was thinking but I'll look around
Darren Brosowski Report post Posted April 14, 2015 205RB only has about 6mm foot lift by the hand lever so forget the bullshit from Jim Beaton about sewing 18mm. Less than 1/4" is all you will sew
